There are two ways to trim a molded rubber 0-ring: manual trimming and mechanical trimming.

Manual trimming is the most traditional method of trimming, and the excess glue edge is gradually trimmed along the outer edge of the product by manual use of the tool. The need for high proficiency will reduce the scrap rate of the product. The manual trimming investment is small, the trimming quality is not high and the efficiency is low, and it is only suitable for the processing of small batch products.

There are two methods for mechanical trimming, one is grinding with sandpaper, and the other is freezing at low temperatures.

At present, the methods of low-temperature freezing and trimming include vibration freezing and trimming, swinging or shaking frozen trimming, drum freezing trimming, brushing and trimming, and shot blasting and trimming.

Under certain low temperature conditions, the rubber will change from a high elastic state to a glass state, and the glassy rubber becomes hard and brittle, and the speed of hardening and brittleness is related to the thickness of the rubber product. When the O-ring is placed in the frozen trimming machine, the thin edge of the product becomes hard and brittle due to freezing under a certain low temperature, but the product itself will maintain a certain elasticity, as the drum runs, Collisions between products, impact and abrasion of products and shot blasting, abrasives, etc., the edges of the rubber will be broken and fell off, to achieve the purpose of trimming. The product will restore its original performance at room temperature.

Low-temperature freezing and trimming production has high efficiency and good economic benefits. However, the effect of removing the inner ring is poor.

The other is grinding on the sandpaper.

The vulcanized O-ring is placed on the sand rod or nylon rod whose inner diameter is matched with the motor, and the motor is driven to rotate. The outer circle is made of sandpaper or grinding wheel, and the excess rubber edge is removed by friction. This method is simple and convenient, and the efficiency is higher than that of manual trimming. It is especially suitable for products with small specifications and large batch sizes. The disadvantage is that the trimming is performed by grinding the grinding wheel, the trimming accuracy is poor, and the grinding surface is rough.
